Workplace Drama

Shirt: Banana Republic (old, similar (also silk) here and (not silk) here and (on sale!) here); Pants:  C/MEO (similar here and here);  Shoes: Sam Edelman

I try to keep workplace drama to a minimum--but that doesn't always apply to my outfits.  I love how dramatic and striking simple black-and-white can be--and even more so in clean, conservative pieces, like this button-up shirt and white wide-leg trousers.

I just added these pants to my wardrobe after a bit of back-and-forth about whether I could pull off a wide-leg pant and am so happy I took the plunge!  I cannot wait to start playing around with them.  I love that they are slightly trendy, but still totally office-appropriate, and extremely versatile.  They work with a couple of my jackets (outfit posts to come!), and can either be toned down as I did here for a super-sleek, chic look, or played up with bright colors to create a fresh, summery look.  They will also look great for the weekend with an off-the shoulder top and wedges (as I mentioned in my previous post--I love finding items that will work in my off-duty life!).  And, of course, it doesn't hurt that the long lines and high waist are super slimming!

If you're on the fence as I was about a wide-leg pant, I say go for it!  I'll be sure to feature them in a few outfits to help give you some styling inspiration.

Let me know below what trendier silhouettes you've been leery of trying.  I'm thinking my next adventure out of my comfort zone will be cropped flares--wish me luck!
